You may have heard of the 90-9-1 theory of social media? If you haven’t prepare to be amazed! So, businesses internationally are getting to grips with networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter and trying out innovative ways to communicate with the worldwide web. For PRs and designers in particular our creativity is being put to the test to develop online campaigns that are going to get everyone talking, but what’s the best way to go about it?
The 90-9-1 theory shows that 90% of online users simply observe and don’t actually contribute to online content with only 9% editing content and 1% creating it. This shows that you may not want to ask too much of your followers but instead make it as easy as possible for them take notice of your company and get involved in your campaigns.
Fear not…Twitter has already recognised this and is soon to launch a brand new image to the site which will encourage users to ‘follow’ interests as opposed to ‘discovering’ what’s going on, in the way a newspaper/magazine work. Great news for de Winter…we’re already experts in that area!
