We had an interesting meeting with an ex- national journalist who gave us some great PR tips and useful advice on how to get stories in the nationals. Alex Singleton used to work at the Telegraph and now runs his own PR company in London.
Here are his top five nuggets of advice…
1) Monitor who is talking about your client online- not just through news sites but on social media sites such as Twitter.
2) Make sure you are getting the right images to the media- newspapers love people pictures.
3) Read and watch the media you target so you know exactly what they want, how they want it and when they want it.
4) Use an expert with specialist knowledge about a subject for any comment pieces.
5) Keep a note of when you have contacted a journalist/ sent a press release.
These are really good tips. You did the a great work writing and revealing the hidden beneficial features.
